Point Taken
Gooseberry's classic: White Trail out to The Point for the big Zion view, then the South Rim slickrock home.
Your timesno timed runs yet
Ride mode times every run on its own: the clock starts when you roll out of the start and stops at the finish, with splits at each marked spot. Leave Ride mode on between laps and it re-arms when you're back at the start. Times stay on this phone.

Getting there
Park at Gooseberry Mesa White Trailhead
End of Gooseberry Mesa Rd: from UT-59 take the Smithsonian Butte Backcountry Byway 2.8 mi, turn left 3.3 mi to the Gooseberry Trailhead, then left 1.3 mi to the road's end
- BLM recommends high-clearance or 4WD: the road is unpaved and often rutted or washed out, and the first stretch crosses private land. Do not attempt it wet.
- Start and finish are the same spot. Follow the cue sheet and the arrows on the map.

Know before you go
- This is technical slickrock riding, not flow: punchy climbs, ledges and step-ups the whole way. The White Trail out is the milder half.
- Follow the white dots painted on the rock. It is easy to lose the line where the slickrock opens up.
- The Point is a sheer cliff edge. Stop well back.
- The drive in is the crux for most visitors. Turn around if the road is wet.
Ride smart
- Water: plan on about 1.5 L for this ride. There's none on the trail.
- Signal is spotty. Tell someone your route and your time back.
- Emergency: call 911 and say "Point Taken ride, parked at Gooseberry Mesa White Trailhead, Hurricane, Utah", plus the coordinates from Locate me.
- Wildlife: give horses, burros and anything with horns room, and never feed them.
- Stay on trail. Desert crust and mountain soil take decades to heal.
