Moon Shot
Grind Fountain Place Road to its end, drop the Armstrong Connector's fast, rocky traverse, then link Upper and Lower Corral all the way down.
Your timesno timed runs yet
Ride mode times every run on its own: the clock starts when you roll out of the start and stops at the finish, with splits at each marked spot. Leave Ride mode on between laps and it re-arms when you're back at the start. Times stay on this phone.

Know before you go
- About 1,300 ft of paved climbing on Fountain Place Road first. Turn onto the Armstrong Connector right where the pavement ends; bikes are not allowed past the gate at the end of the road (private land beyond).
- The Armstrong Connector is fast and exposed, with a rocky middle section, tight turns and loose granite. Upper Corral is rough and rocky with optional drops and jumps. Lower Corral is the berm-and-tabletop flow finish.
- Ride the Connector and Corral downhill only. Upper and Lower Corral are shared with dirt bikes.
- The 2021 Caldor Fire burned through this area. Expect open, sunny slopes, standing dead trees and changing tread.
- E-bikes are only allowed on trails open to motorized use on the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. The Armstrong Connector is not one of them.
Ride smart
- Water: plan on about 1 L for this ride. There's none on the trail.
- Signal is spotty. Tell someone your route and your time back.
- Emergency: call 911 and say "Moon Shot ride, parked at Corral Trailhead (Fountain Place Road), South Lake Tahoe, California and Nevada", plus the coordinates from Locate me.
- Wildlife: give horses, burros and anything with horns room, and never feed them.
- Stay on trail. Desert crust and mountain soil take decades to heal.
