Into the Hollow
Sidney Peak Trail to the top of Dark Hollow, the long descent past Cub Lake, then a big gravel-road climb up Sidney Valley and the Sidney Peak ridge home.
Your timesno timed runs yet
Ride mode times every run on its own: the clock starts when you roll out of the start and stops at the finish, with splits at each marked spot. Leave Ride mode on between laps and it re-arms when you're back at the start. Times stay on this phone.

Know before you go
- Most riders shuttle Dark Hollow down to Parowan. This is the self-powered version the Forest Service points to: descend Dark Hollow, then climb about 5 miles of Second Left Hand and Sidney Valley Road back up to Sidney Peak Trail.
- About 16 miles and close to 3,000 ft of climbing, between roughly 8,800 and 11,100 ft. Advanced for the length, altitude and the long road climb, not for the descent itself.
- Do not keep going down Second Left Hand Road toward Parowan unless you have a shuttle waiting. About half a mile after Dark Hollow comes out on Second Left Hand Road, turn onto Sidney Valley Road and climb.
- OSM has a short gap in Dark Hollow around mile 2, bridged here with about half a mile of Forest Service track. Follow the Dark Hollow signs if the trail runs straight through.
- No water. Burned forest in places: watch for standing dead trees. Open roughly Memorial Day to Labor Day, weather permitting.
Ride smart
- Water: plan on about 2 L for this ride. There's none on the trail.
- Signal is spotty. Tell someone your route and your time back.
- Emergency: call 911 and say "Into the Hollow ride, parked at Brian Head Peak Trailhead (Sidney Peak trailhead), Brian Head Trails", plus the coordinates from Locate me.
- Wildlife: give horses, burros and anything with horns room, and never feed them.
- Stay on trail. Desert crust and mountain soil take decades to heal.
