High and Hidden
A lap of the Perimeter Loop around Hidden Valley, then the Highland Loop up into the hills above southeast Reno for big views and narrow, exposed singletrack.
Your timesno timed runs yet
Ride mode times every run on its own: the clock starts when you roll out of the start and stops at the finish, with splits at each marked spot. Leave Ride mode on between laps and it re-arms when you're back at the start. Times stay on this phone.

Know before you go
- The Perimeter Loop is the warm-up. The Highland Loop is the reason to come: narrow, sometimes loose tread with steep drop-offs to one side in places. Walk anything you are not sure of.
- For an easier, shorter outing, ride only the Perimeter Loop and skip the Highland Loop.
- Washoe County has been improving the Highland Loop with a state trails grant, so expect new signs and possible reroutes.
- The park is about 7 miles from the UNR campus (straight-line distance measured on the map), a short drive. No shade on the hill; bring water.
Ride smart
- Water: plan on about 1 L for this ride. There's none on the trail.
- Signal is spotty. Tell someone your route and your time back.
- Emergency: call 911 and say "High and Hidden ride, parked at Hidden Valley Regional Park, Reno, Nevada", plus the coordinates from Locate me.
- Wildlife: give horses, burros and anything with horns room, and never feed them.
- Stay on trail. Desert crust and mountain soil take decades to heal.
