Crater Run
Climb West Leg to the saddle, spin the whole Caldera rim, then let Girl Scout carry you home.
Your timesno timed runs yet
Ride mode times every run on its own: the clock starts when you roll out of the start and stops at the finish, with splits at each marked spot. Leave Ride mode on between laps and it re-arms when you're back at the start. Times stay on this phone.

Know before you go
- West Leg is a steady rocky climb of about 600 ft; granny gear, no shame.
- Caldera feels remote and is fully exposed. Carry more water than you think, especially May to September.
- Near the end you join the lower piece of Boy Scout, the shuttle crowd's descent, and ride it the same direction they do. Expect company on weekends.
- Girl Scout is the busiest descent in the park because shuttle riders use it too. Keep your eyes up on blind corners.
- The OpenStreetMap "Boy Scout" piece used here sits a few hundred feet off Trailforks' Boy Scout line. Follow the GPS line and the signs where they disagree.
Ride smart
- Water: plan on about 1 L for this ride. There's none on the trail.
- Signal is spotty. Tell someone your route and your time back.
- Emergency: call 911 and say "Crater Run ride, parked at Bootleg Canyon Park trailhead, Boulder City / Bootleg Canyon", plus the coordinates from Locate me.
- Wildlife: give horses, burros and anything with horns room, and never feed them.
- Stay on trail. Desert crust and mountain soil take decades to heal.
